Fall & Knitting

I actually finished a piece of knitting! I gave up on all the projects I already had going (sound familiar) and decided to cast on something fun. So, I cast on Ysolda's Liesl. I loved it. It is knit on large needles (US #11) using worsted weight or chunky weight yarn. So it knits up really quickly -- perfect for a nursing mom who does not have much time on her hands!

I used Princess by Classic Elite and knit the body and the sleeves much longer than directed. I love it! The one thing I wish I had done was knit it a little bigger in the chest -- I'm a little busty right now. Never had that problem before so I'm not used to it!

Just in time too -- the Autumn is arriving in all her glory!

1 Month Old

Baby John was 1 month old yesterday. We went to the pediatrician and he weighed 8 lbs 4 oz! Hooray! I can't believe how much he's grown in just a month.

Here he is at 2 days old and 5 lbs 4 oz!

Baby John Pictures

Heather, my sister, took wonderful photos of Baby John on Saturday. She's getting good at taking pictures... I think we all (the family) need to figure out a way of getting her a good camera...

Walking in the Rain

JK, Baby John, Mom and I took a walk yesterday in the cool autumn rain.

Baby John wore a merino sweater I spun and knitted for my sister's first baby boy.

Bobby even joined in on the walk and got soaked. But he was so happy!

The Bramblewood Vest Photo Shoot

As you all already know Bramblewood was published by Knotions Magazine this fall. I promised pictures of the photo shoot because it was so much fun, thanks to the talented Alecia, the photographer, and Emily, the model.

We used my Pearl St. Scarf as one of the props - you can purchase the pattern here

The second prop was a basket bag decorated with felted flowers made by The Blackberry Tree. LOVED this bag!
There is a KAL on Ravelry - join it and have fun!

June 2009

I'm so sorry I've been rather absent from my blog. It's been a rather hard week this past week and blogging about it seemed to make things "realer" than I wanted them to be. My mom's brother, Uncle Bill, died September 5th quite suddenly. I still don't think I can write about all the wonderful memories Uncle Bill gave us, not only this past year as he spent time with us in Indy, but also growing up - at least not yet. He was the best Uncle. However, Heather, wrote a little bit here - that will have to suffice for now. I'll be back blogging soon... I promise. Perhaps tomorrow.

Thank you SOOO much!

You all brought tears to my eyes when I opened the little package filled with these teeny tiny socks! Thank you Thursday night knitters! They are perfect and fit him beautifully! He's been wearing two pairs of socks just to bulk up his feet enough for one pair to stay on.

And the one pair of socks that I started for him hasn't gone very far. I started these a week ago and see how far I've gotten? I have no knitting time right now. I eat, feed him, change poopy & wet diapers, kiss away his tears, giggle at his smiles and then fall asleep when he sleeps. You gift of socks means so much to me.
