Learning....

You can never please everyone.... so don't try to....

Don't be a doormat...be a strong door with a welcoming door bell...

A clean house was a season in my life and will be a season in the future but is not a season right now... and that is ok (I haven't learned this one yet. I still want a clean house NOW.... but I've heard too many horror stories of kids growing up with "neatnik" mommies that I want to try to achieve a balance).

It's ok to welcome and entertain friends in your house without makeup on - had to do this today because there just wasn't time for the "face."

Stop. Enjoy the pudgy cheeks and toothless grins - they don't last long.

Spring will come despite the weather forecasts... it always does.

Hi Friends!
It's been an intense couple of weeks around here - nothing terrible. Just life with little ones. Hopefully I'll be back to blogging next week - I've got to tell you about my latest yarn adventure!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! We're supposed to get more snow - we'll see if that really happens.

keep knitting! Spring is around some corner!

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello Friends,

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are sharing it with your loved ones! This has been a particularly fun Valentine's Day for me as I helped John get all his Valentine's ready for his preschool class and then watched him come home and open all the ones he received.

It's Arthur's 1st Valentine's Day. oooo, and isn't he the cutest Valentine.

We've made our little Valentine mailbox and stuffed it with our Valentine's notes to each other. We'll sit down at dinner tonight and open them together.

My Valentine to myself was finding a ball of Kroy Sock Yarn - Blue Striped Ragg. I started coveting that colorway after seeing Susan B. Anderson's sock she is knitting from that colorway. I also am so interested to see what's so great about Kroy Sock Yarn -afterall you can pick it up at JoAnn's!
It's a fun season....

Yarn Along

Hello Friends!

We received a fresh blanket of snow yesterday. For some reason it hasn't lost it's charm yet for me. John and I were busy tracking the storm for a few days before it hit us. He loves the weather. While we waited for the storm we read about the coldest inhabited (year round) city in the world.

Today we've been making things (a stove out of cardboard boxes), tents in the basement for camping, and some cookies (of course). All of this is accompanied by pots and pots of tea. Right now I'm drinking a lovely Blood Orange tea made of dried apples, oranges and rose petals. Fabulous!

Of course Arthur is growing so fast. He needed a new pair of booties - ones that stay on. So I cast on and went to work. Unfortunately there is no pattern. But perhaps some day soon.

I'm reading "A Spoonful of Sugar" by Brenda Ashford, Britain's oldest living nanny. My sister said it was good but I LOVE it! It is so sweet and endearing. I love her perspective on children. She says that her book is not meant to be a "manual" on how to raise children but I'm gleaning little bits of golden advice nonetheless. And boy, could mommies use them now and again.

And a bit of bunting was made this week for the mantle - a winter bunting in blues and whites and gray. Perfect for this season.
