Chain Stitch Slouchy Hat

A few weeks before Christmas I received a delightful little kit in the mail from Imperial Stock Yarn! It was a box of yarn to make a lovely new pattern - the Chain Stitch Slouchy Hat by Deborah Newton. This hat is one of nine patterns and pattern sets that Deborah Newton has designed for the Imperial Stock Yarn early spring line of patterns.

Christmas ended up being busier than I had anticipated! Phew! So instead of a Christmas cast on I ended up casting on during the first episode of Downton Abbey (this last season).

It was the perfect project for Downton watching! Simple but intriguing it flew off my needles. In fact, I purposely slowed down on it because I was enjoying it soooooo much!

The yarn (Imperial Stock Yarn Tempest) is a single stranded yarn that is sooo soft and squishy. It feels like butter running through your hands. And that's why I didn't want to end the project!

People often think farm yarns are harsh or heavy but this one is not at all! It is light, fluffy, soft and squishy.  It is absolutely lovely!

Luckily for me, the day I finished my hat we had a snow storm and some of the coldest temperatures yet this season!

So if this project hat to come to an end, at least it came to an end on the perfect day!

What fun! It's a really nice pattern and the red and white make it look a bit Swedish!
